Why aluminium garage doors?
What do I have to take into consideration when buying a garage door? Are there legal regulations?
All brand-name garage doors by Alulux fulfil the legally required DIN-EN standards. This is very important! Only with this feature you, as the owner of a garage door, are on the safe side. Do not make any compromises. Read what is regulated by law:
When installing garage doors the safety features according to EU Standard 13241-1 must be observed. As owner and user you are responsible to fulfil these requirements with your residential garage door. The below mentioned safety regulations are excerpts from the Standard. They have not been taken over completely and verbatim. There are still further requirements that have to be considered, too.
The door systems Detolux, Resident and Vertico are certified by TÜV and are produced according to the current EU standard. But they have to be adapted exactly to the respective site conditions. Declaration of Conformity, CE-sign, test manual and an individual type plate are part of the supply package of our brand name garage doors. Everything is tested and certified.
Excerpts from the EU Standard:
Manual operation (point 4.4)
At power failure or when the door operator fails, a trapped person must be able to leave the room. So either a second door has to exist or the door needs an emergency release to be unlocked from inside. In the Detolux and Vertico systems the emergency release from the inside is standard. For Resident it is available at extra charge.
Protection/Main closing edge (Point 4.5)
For all automatic garage doors with radio remote control/impulse operation it is essential that the main closing edge is equipped with a failure-proof contact bar. That means, as soon as an obstacle is recognized in the travel path, the door must stop and reverse in order to release the obstacle. In the Detolux and Vertico systems a microprocessor controlled automatic cut-out function is standard. For Resident the Benny radio comfort package is available at extra charge.
Safety brake
Garage doors must be secured against dropping and uncontrolled and unbalanced movements, as soon as the force on the main closing edge exceeds 15 kg. For this safety spring kits on both sides are incorporated into the Detolux garage door. Resident roller doors are equipped with a safety brake as standard that stops the door system electrically and brings it to a halt mechanically, if necessary.
Power-off control
Every door must be equipped with a separating device that separates all incoming power supply cables. These have to be protected against unauthorised or unintended connection. In the Detolux, Vertico systems and in the Resident garage door with Benny radio comfort package (at extra charge) this is guaranteed by means of the safety plug. In case of a fixed connection to power supply a main switch is necessary.
Do not take any risks! Buying a garage door is a matter of confidence. Ask your Alulux specialist dealer for appropriate equipment for your garage door.
